When my life was tipped upside down, it sent me on a journey of self-discovery, a deep spiritual awakening and a wondrous experience.  As I cried out in pain and walked out of my marriage of 12 years with my five children alongside,  I was saying, “Please help me Jesus. Please help me God. Is there anyone out there who can hear me?”  With loss of income and 15 years out of my career,
how was I going to provide? How were we going to survive?

The twin boys had just turned two, then my next son was 6 years, then 8 years and my oldest son was 10. They watched me fall apart and then get myself together again! They never judged. They watched me cry, they watched me drink and drink. They picked me up each time I fell down. And I fell again and again! The voice I heard each time I fell was from a little boy who would gently say, “Mum, I love you, you are so beautiful today. You are the most beautiful mum in the world”. Hung over I would drag myself through the day, wishing the shakes would go away!

Then Mother Mary came to me with her words of wisdom, “Pray the rosary” she would say, and so I started to pray the rosary.  I’d drink and pray and she would say, “the rosary is not just a prayer for the Catholics, but a prayer for the Broken, the Sick and yes, the Drunk,
a prayer for the  Adulteress, and the prayer I pray for you”.

So I began to make rosaries. With each rosary I made, bit-by-bit the pain went away.

The more I prayed the less I would drink until I could stand on my own two feet.  I started to run, I started to sing, I started to love everything!  As I stripped off my clothes so I could feel free, all I wanted was to just be me!

No time, nobody watching, just me in the Now! And I am free!
